Create a Door-to-door Campaign

In this article, we’ll show you how to create door-to-door routes for your campaign!

Door-to-door canvassing is essential for reaching voters and supporters. Démocratik’s tools will help you effectively connect with people by knocking on their doors or ringing their doorbells. Let’s see how to prepare your campaign!

1. Click on "Operations", then "Canvassing", and "Canvassing" again.

Here you’ll see your previous campaigns and some information about them, (whether they’re complete or not, their progress, creation date, number of doors and people included, the assigned users, etc.).

Click "Create an operation"

2. To create a new campaign, click on “Create a new campaign” in the bar just below the search bar.

3. You must first choose how to select your door-to-door area, either:

  • By street

  • By voting section, or poll

  • By drawing a polygon, either on the field or from a saved polygon

  • Or search and select, which allows you to create an "empty" campaign, then search and filter your electors to load them in (if you want to see how, here is the article!).

Choose to find targets using the poll selection method

3. Then, you must choose if you want to load contacts or voters in your campaign. If you search by poll, as we’ve done here, you’ll only be able to select your voters to add to your campaign. Otherwise, you could choose from your contacts.

Click "Next step"

4. At the next step, first make sure you’re in the correct riding, if you have access to more than one. Here, we’re selecting Alfred-Pellan.

Next, by searching or scrolling through the list, you need to find the polls (you can select one or more) where you want to go door-to-door.

You’ll be able to see how many households and how many people are on the streets you’ve selected.

Click "6"

Proceed to the operation details phase

5. 18. Next, you’ll need to enter the basic information for your operation. First, enter the name you want to give your operation. You can also enter a description, if you’d like.

Next, choose the survey you want to use for the operation. Then, specify your scoring question.

Click the "Operation name" field.

You can also enter a start date and time for your door-to-door campaign; by default, this will be the date and time you create your campaign.

You can also add an end date and time for your operation; this will notify the canvassers to stop knocking on doors.

6. Next, you need to add a form to determine which questions will appear on the phones of the people going door-to-door.

You’ll see the option to either create a new form or choose one that’s already been created. Here, we click "Use template" on the one we want. We could also previez it, or edit it.

If you want to learn how to create questionnaires, click here!

Click "Test_Août 2025Ce questionnaire sert pour les campagnes d'appels de pointage, août 2025. Preview template Edit template Use template"

Here, we select a template, then click “Use Template.”

7. Next, you’ll need to assign users to your campaign. By default, you’ll be set as the Owner of your campaign. You can add other people as owners (which will allow them to edit the campaign) by typing their names into the search bar.

You can add agents to your campaign (door-to-door volunteers, for example) in three ways.

  1. You can copy the link at the bottom of the page, and send it to them. Be sure to check that the “People with the link” field displays what you want; it’s set to “agent” by default, so people who click the link will see the campaign as an agent. If you change this option to “Owner,” people will be able to edit your campaign via the link.

  2. You can also invite them via the search bar, of course, if they already have an account of the site.

  3. Finally, if the “Share QR” option is enabled, volunteers can scan the code with their phone camera to join the campaign as an agent. The QR code works with the link; the option selected under “People with the link” applies to it as well, so be careful.

This isn’t your only chance to share your campaign with volunteers; you can also do so after clicking “Finish”.

Finalize and activate the canvassing campaign

8. Once you click “Finish,” you'll return to the dashboard with all your operations, and you'll see the one you just created. By clicking the three dots on the row of the operation you want to share, you'll see the “Share” option, which will allow you to add volunteers to your campaign when you're ready.

Click "Share"

A window will open, with the same sharing options as before!

Click "Email language"

Once your volunteers are added to your operation, all that’s left to do is to make sure they are logged into the Démocratik V3 app, go to the door-to-door section, select the operation, and click “Start Door-to-Door”!

Happy door-to-door campaigning!
