In this article, you'll learn how to search for and create filters in the Election tab. Once you know how to create sublists from the voter list, you’ll know how to send those lists to door-to-door campaigns, phone calls, or text messages!
1. To begin, click the “Election” icon in the left-hand sidebar, then Electors.
2. Make sure, in the bar containing many drop-down menus, that you have chosen the proper District or Riding, before going further.
You'll see then the voters' list of this riding. Here, the fictitious riding has 51 electors.
3. Next, you’ll see the complete list of your voters. To search for a specific voter, the search bar is the best way. You'll see a list of criteria in the drop down menu. To search a person by name, for example, the search bar will work great.
Psst. The methods for searching and filtering voters are quite similar to those for contacts.
If the search by name returns multiple people (in the case of a common name, like John Smith), you could then add a criterion, such as the postal code, to find the right person.
4. If you’d rather filter your voters in a list you want to send to a campaign, for example, the “Filters” window is much more useful; you'll find it juste at the left of the search bar. There, you'll also be able to enter many criteria.
5. This is where the filter window differs from the one for contacts. Here you’ll find options more relevant to elections, such as the electoral district (though you’ve already entered that one).
6. That said, just below that in “Info,” you’ll find the standard demographic information (age, gender, language, etc.), and some Elector-specific criteria, list sections.
In “Contacts,” you'll find all contact types; for example, you could filter to show only people who don't have a landline or cell phone.
If you want to filter your voters by their answers to your surveys, including their voting intentions, you'll find it in "Surveys".
The possibility are endless and you can build a very specific list, taylored to your needs.
7. Finally, once your voter list has been set up correctly, you can click "Search" in the window, and you'll see your list.
8. You can print the list or export it as a CSV file by clicking the "Download" button in the drop-down menu bar, or export it to a campaign by clicking the "Operation" button, right next to it.
If you want to export your list to a campaign, that campaign must already exist. Click on the campaign type (here, text message) to view the list of recent campaigns; you'll also be able to use the drop-down menu to find the right campaign.
9. Once you’ve selected a campaign, you’ll see the contact import funnel, where you can verify that everything looks good, and click “Import” if it does.
You are now a pro at searching and filtering your voters!
